Summer Camp Massacre
Writer/Director Dave Campfield sits down with Sleepawaycampmovies.com for a Campy Q&A

SCM: What's the story about?
DC: Caesar and Otto are on the run from the law, take false identities and temporarily start anew as summer camp counselors. But their fellow camp counselors start turning up dead once Carrie (Felissa Rose) shows up. Imagine Abbott and Costello go to Sleepaway Camp. But they'll be more twists and turns than you expect. This is not Sleepaway Camp 5, but a whole new creation, with a wholly different plot. It also lampoons certain conventions of the horror genre.
SCM: How gory is the movie going to be?

DC: I'm not out to break any gore records, but enough to satisfy. The last thing I want to do is rehash the same ol' gore scenes we've all seen before. I was trying to do something a little more unique. I'll be over the top, but hopefully darkly hilarious.

Trivia: The entire feature length movie "Ceaser And Otto's Summer Camp Massacre" was shot in only 10 days on a budget of practically nothing. Despite these incredible obstacles, Dave managed to get it all done! The movie was shot in High Definition video.

SCM: Talk about managing to shoot the entire movie in 10 days on a micro budget.
DC: This might be my third film, but I've never had to think faster on my feet. Dark Chamber (formally titled Under Surveillance) was shot in 24 non consecutive days. That gave me plenty of opportunities for thorough planning and reshoots when necessary. I had no such luxuries this time around. I was scheduled to be out in California for 2 weeks only, and within that time I had to pull off the entire shoot. 4 days preproduction, 10 days shooting, no days off. Plenty of things that could go wrong, did go wrong. I slept no more than 2 hours per night. But I'm proud to say, we got the film I hoped we would. I have countless stories, but you'll have to wait for the DVD commentary to hear most of them :D
SCM: Talk a bit about the casting process for this movie.
DC: I've known Felissa for a few years now, and she's been a good friend. I created this storyline basically around her, without knowing if she'd want to do it. Fortunately she did, and found it so funny, she got her husband Deron Miller into the film and also suggested Brinke Stevens and Joe Estevez. She was a vital asset to the whole process. What I'm sure a lot of people don't know is that Caesar and Otto's Summer Camp Massacre is a sequel to "Ceaser and Otto". A number of characters from the first film, such as the amazing Ken MacFarlane and Scott Agular (Caesar and Otto's criminal father) are back from this one. There was also some casting done through the magazine Backstage LA. I couldn't be happier with the cast and hope to work with the surviving members in future Caesar and Otto movies.

SCM: Talk a little bit about CEASER and OTTO and how it all began.
DC: Caesar and Otto began as a stupid sketch comedy routine Paul Chomicki (Otto) and I created about 10 years ago. We created these characters for short home movies, but had such a blast doing them that we decided to expand upon them. In 2004, we shot the original feature length Caesar and Otto movie on the smallest budget a feature has ever been filmed for. That opened the door for Summer Camp Massacre. Both Caesar and Otto movies will be released on one DVD, along with an interactive, and utterly ridiculous choose your own adventure game. I'm hoping to give the audience something fresh and different.
